Back-to-Back

Perhaps the finest back to back holes in world golf, the sixth and seventh at Western Gailes live long in the players memory. It was Tom Doak, in The Confidential Guide to Golf Courses, who said ‘The par five 6th and the par three 7th are truly world class golf holes’.

Lappock – the only par five in the world that is all carry on the direct line. Teeing-up across heather-decorated dunes the fairway runs across and away from the tee. The second shot is sublime as you aim for the fairway which is nestled between two huge dunes that stand guard to protect the green. The fairway snakes round into an incredible links green that demands precision. A glorious par five.

Sea – The par three 7th is where the dunes become the most dramatic, creating an arena-style hole that will brutally punish errant tee shots. A collection of pot bunkers await.
